Bishop William Murphy of Rockville Centre (right), gets his vision checked by Dr. Ahmed Fonad Al Elulaimy, an ophthalmologic surgeon, in the Mar Narsai Clinic in Dahuk, Iraq, on April 10, 2016. The clinic was built and equipped by the Catholic Near East Welfare Association--of which Bishop Murphy is a member of the board--to meet the needs of Christians and others displaced to Dahuk because of attacks by ISIS.
Bishop Murphy came to northern Iraq with Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the archbishop of New York and chair of CNEWA, and other church leaders to visit with Christians and others affected by ISIS.
CNEWA is a papal agency providing humanitarian and pastoral support to the church and people in the region.
