Yazidi woman in IDP campAdd to Cart Add to Lightbox Download
A Yazidi woman dries old bread in the sun in order to use it as animal feed in a camp for internally displaced persons at Dawodiya in Iraq's Kurdistan region. More than 600 Yazidi families living in the camp escaped from their communities in the Sinjar region during the attempted genocide by the Islamic State group. Although ISIS was militarily defeated in 2017, camp residents say it's still not safe to return home, nor do they have sufficient resources to rebuild their homes.
The Lutheran World Federation, a member of the ACT Alliance, provides water, sanitation, garbage collection, and psycho-social support for the families in the camp.
